The agenda for the InvestChile Week Europe investment promotion roadshow, which the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency took to Paris today, featured a gathering of over 30 senior executives from French companies and ten parallel bilateral meetings across sectors such as mining, infrastructure and the food industry. Led by Mining Undersecretary Suina Chahuán, Public Works Undersecretary Danilo Núñez and InvestChile Director Karla Flores, the program attracted the interest of new companies seeking to explore the Chilean market as well as those already operating in the country.
In the morning, the Chilean authorities spoke at the “French companies exploring opportunities in Chile” seminar, co-organized with the Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF) and supported by Société Générale. The event brought together companies from sectors including lithium, renewable energy, energy storage, transport infrastructure, consulting, engineering services, biotechnology, software development, waste treatment and investment funds.
Also attending the seminar were Raúl Fernández Daza, the Chilean Ambassador to France; Ana Giros, the President of MEDEF’s France-Chile Business Council; Juan Eduardo Chackiel, the Head of the Studies and Financial Analysis Division at the General Directorate of Concessions; and Cristián Sagal, InvestChile’s Investment Commissioner in Paris. These authorities shared the overall characteristics of investment in Chile and highlighted specific opportunities in sectors such as critical minerals and the MOP concessions portfolio. They also responded to questions from the audience.
In the afternoon, the authorities led three parallel bilateral meeting sessions, addressing the multi-sector queries from French companies individually.
Undersecretary Núñez emphasized the presence of companies with whom they discussed various aspects and opportunities within the concessions system and its projections. “We have held a series of meetings today with companies and investment funds to present each initiative in our concessions portfolio, which will be up for tender in 2025 and 2026. We also discussed projects under consideration for 2029. There has been tremendous interest.”
Mining Undersecretary Suina Chahuán noted that the French companies specifically inquired about investment opportunities in subsectors such as copper and lithium as well as the government’s plans in these areas. “We are very pleased with the activities in Paris. There was significant interest from companies already operating in Chile and others prospecting for future investment. We will continue the tour in Berlin, showcasing Chile’s vast mining sector opportunities.”
InvestChile Director Karla Flores emphasized the significance of this type of event. “It is crucial that we generate opportunities for French companies to learn directly from the authorities about plans and opportunities in high-potential sectors, like mining and infrastructure. As an Agency, we take meetings and questions from a wide range of companies that see Chile as a place with excellent conditions to develop their business.”
On Thursday, the delegations will travel in parallel to Zurich for an infrastructure-focused agenda and to Berlin, where discussions on opportunities for mining suppliers will take place.
Importantly, InvestChile Week Europe is a roadshow aimed at promoting multi-sector investment opportunities. It includes 40 events in seven cities across six European countries from June 9 to 19.
