Foreign investment reached US$9.9 billion as of May 2026

Today, the Chilean Central Bank reported foreign direct investment (FDI) figures through May of this year. According to its records, a net inflow of US$9.9 billion was recorded through the fifth month of 2026, a 53% increase from the first five months of 2025, when FDI totaled US$6.5 billion.

InvestChile data shows that US$2.2 billion in FDI entered the country in May alone.

According to InvestChile’s analysis, the figure for January through May exceeds the five-year average for the same period (US$8.7 billion) by 14%. However, the agency clarifies that the data covers only the first five months of the year and is not necessarily indicative of results for the coming months.

The most significant component of the cumulative FDI flow as of May was reinvested earnings, which totaled US$7.4 billion. Equity capital amounted to US$1.3 billion, and debt instruments to US$983 million.
