  •  InvestChile actively participated in a series of investment promotion activities in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, as part of the first official visit by a Chilean president to India in 16 years.

InvestChile Director Karla Flores traveled to New Delhi as part of the public-private delegation accompanying the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, on his State Visit to India.

On her first day of activities, she took part in a mining-focused roundtable organized by the International Copper Association India.

The session was led by Chile’s Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, and India’s Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy.

The event brought together over a dozen senior executives from Indian companies and government representatives, including Máximo Pacheco, Chairman of the Board at CODELCO; Fernando Cortez, General Manager of the Antofagasta Industrial Association (AIA); Catalina Pérez, InvestChile’s Investment Commissioner for Asia; Cristián Sagal, Investment Commissioner for France; and Rodrigo Urquiza, Head of International Affairs at the Chilean Ministry of Mining.

The session addressed cooperation in mineral exploration, sustainable mining, and value-added processing. The potential renewal of the Chile–India MoU on Geology and Mineral Resources was also discussed.

Promoting bilateral trade

On the second day, InvestChile participated in the Chile–India Business Forum, co-organized with ProChile. More than 160 senior representatives from the Indian government and private sector attended the event, including India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.

President Gabriel Boric stated:
“We want to strengthen our ties in agribusiness, renewable energy, education, technology, and creative industries. Chile is committed to being a reliable and strategic partner for India in Latin America and a bridge to the rest of the region.”

Sector-specific workshops: mining and agribusiness

Later that day, InvestChile hosted two sector-specific workshops focused on investment opportunities in mining and agribusiness.

The mining workshop was led by Minister Aurora Williams and featured presentations by Karla Flores, Máximo Pacheco, and Corfo Executive Vice President José Miguel Benavente. The session was moderated by Investment Commissioner for Asia, Catalina Pérez.

The agribusiness workshop was chaired by Minister Esteban Valenzuela and included presentations by Vice Minister of International Economic Affairs, Claudia Sanhueza, and ProChile Director General, Ignacio Fernández. The session was moderated by Investment Commissioner for France, Cristián Sagal.

Bilateral meetings and tech company visits

In Mumbai, Karla Flores, alongside Máximo Pacheco and Catalina Pérez, met with Bhadresh Shah, Managing Director of AIA Engineering, a company interested in collaborating with CODELCO.

Later, Flores held a bilateral meeting with executives from Neeyamo Enterprise Solutions, a company specializing in global payroll and Employer of Record (EOR) services.

In the afternoon, Flores and Pérez visited the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) facilities with a delegation of over 25 Chilean authorities, including Minister Aurora Williams, Minister Antonia Orellana, and Corfo Executive Vice President José Miguel Benavente. The visit was led by Sol Besprosvan, CEO of TCS Chile.

TCS has operated a regional delivery center in Chile since 2005 and currently employs more than 1,900 professionals.

Innovation and technology in Bangalore

In Bangalore, Director Karla Flores and Catalina Pérez participated in a working session on technology and innovation, led by President Boric and held at Chaman Bhartiya School.

The meeting included representatives from the State of Karnataka and innovation ecosystems from both countries.

President Boric emphasized that Chile’s innovation strategy “focuses on key sectors such as digital technologies, clean energy, agribusiness, sustainable mining, green hydrogen, and retail tech. On this path, we see India as a strategic partner. Chile has a policy of global engagement. While some seek isolation, we believe in sharing and opening up—for the benefit of our people.”

The delegation also included Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren, Ministers Aurora Williams, Carolina Arredondo, and Antonia Orellana, and Vice Minister Claudia Sanhueza.

The official visit concluded with the announcement of new bilateral cooperation initiatives. InvestChile wrapped up a week of intensive investment promotion activities across three key Indian cities, reinforcing economic ties between both countries and positioning Chile as a strategic partner in mining, agribusiness, technology, and innovation.
