InvestChile drives agri-food innovation with key stakeholders

  • InvestChile brought together public and private-sector leaders for a strategic workshop to strengthen the agri-food ecosystem and promote new opportunities for technological investment in Chile.

InvestChile hosted the workshop Challenges, investment, and technological innovation in the Chilean agri-food ecosystem, led by Mauricio Camus, Food Industry Sector Lead, and organized in collaboration with Chilean Economic Development Agency CORFO and companies that form part of the AgroTech Chile association.

The event brought together authorities, experts, and representatives from technology companies to address the key challenges, opportunities, and priorities of the Chilean agri-food sector.

A collaborative workshop to strengthen the ecosystem

The session was inaugurated by Salvatore Di Giovanni, Head of Investment Promotion at InvestChile, who highlighted the agency’s role in developing the agritech ecosystem and the importance of collaborating with the private sector to strengthen and promote new investment opportunities.

Participants included:

  • Macarena AljaroDirector of Technological Programs at CORFO.
  • Claudia BarrigaGeneral Manager of AgroTech Chile.
  • Arturo FernándezTechnical Executive at CORFO’s Department of Consortia and Technological Programs.

From InvestChile, Felipe AlvaradoMaría Elena Cobo, and Silvana Poli also attended.

Additionally, Morchella ChileCyD Asesorías SpA, ZERA, AgromarketingChile, Nuevo AgroNettra Chile SpAWiseConnCDTEC Líderes en Gestión Eficiente del RiegoNECTecmundo, and Eco3 participated in the workshop.

Challenges and opportunities: Data, AI, and talent as drivers of change

In the first part of the workshop, InvestChile organized a panel discussion with companies from the AgroTech Chile association to identify gaps and investment opportunities. The discussion emphasized the need to:

  • Improve data availability and management.
  • Integrate technologies such as artificial intelligence to optimize processes.
  • Strengthen technical training and skills development to accelerate the ecosystem’s maturity.

These priorities outline a clear path for attracting tech-based projects and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness.

CORFO presents roadmap to boost R&D&I 

The second part of the workshop was led by CORFO, which presented its initiative to promote agri-food ecosystems based on technological development and innovation. The presentation covered:

  • The Chilean R&D&I ecosystem.
  • Strategic pillars and areas of focus.
  • Technological platforms and priority sectors.
  • Ongoing support programs.
  • Strengthening the Chilean technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

This comprehensive approach aims to consolidate a favorable environment for foreign investment and the development of disruptive solutions in the agri-food sector.

The active participation of companies affiliated with AgroTech Chile generated a constructive, forward-looking dialogue, aligning investment opportunities with the real needs and strategic vision of Chile’s agri-food innovation ecosystem.
