At the offices of the Comptroller General of the Republic, InvestChile Director, Karla Flores, led the agency’s 2024 public report, during which she reviewed its performance and results during the year. Flores emphasized that the portfolio of projects managed by InvestChile reached a record figure of US$56.2 billion in 2024, encompassing 474 projects that generated over 21,000 potential jobs. Moreover, the agency surpassed the goal set by the Committee of Ministers for the 2023–2026 period of reaching US$17 billion in materialized investment and 7,000 permanent direct jobs one year ahead of schedule, with 117% and 103% fulfillment respectively.
Additionally, InvestChile’s director highlighted achievements such as the establishment of an international network of investment commissioners in key markets such as Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, and Japan; the strengthening of regional capacity to attract foreign investment through agreements signed with seven regional governments, aimed at creating or enhancing investment promotion units; and a new structure to boost the international promotion of public project tenders (lithium, green hydrogen, concessions, transport), among others.
A notable announcement made by Flores during the public report was the opening of a new office in Saudi Arabia, which will serve all Middle Eastern markets. This initiative is aligned with one of InvestChile’s key goals for 2025: the consolidation of its international network. “In addition to this new office, we will also open a preliminary liaison office in Brazil, which will be the agency’s first overseas presence in Latin America,” she added.
“During this administration, we have managed to lay the foundations for a robust, efficient, and cross-sectoral institutional framework, coordinated with all relevant stakeholders and with a clear objective: to ensure that the impacts and benefits of foreign direct investment are realized, generating new opportunities and improving the quality of life and growth prospects for all Chilean people,” said Flores.
