InvestChile Week kicks off in London with a focus on promoting US$7.8 billion concession portfolio

  • The business roadshow, which includes over 40 activities, is underway in the UK capital, before continuing in Paris, Zurich, Berlin, Milan, Rome, and Madrid.

The first edition of InvestChile Week Europe, organized by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, kicked off today in London, United Kingdom, with a series of bilateral meetings and a workshop for companies in the infrastructure sector. On the first day of the event, the Chilean delegation in London was led by the Undersecretary of Public Works, Danilo Núñez, and InvestChile Director, Karla Flores.

The program, developed in coordination with InvestChile’s Investment Commissioner for the UK and Germany, Vanessa Severin, also included the participation of Chilean Ambassador to the UK, Ximena Fuentes; Juan Eduardo Chackiel, Head of the Financial Analysis Division at the General Directorate of Concessions; and Patricio Álvarez, Infrastructure Sector Lead at InvestChile. A highlight of the day was the “Public Infrastructure in Chile” workshop, during which Núñez provided detailed information on Chile’s public concessions portfolio, which includes infrastructure projects totaling more than US$7.8 billion through 2026, to an audience of senior executives from infrastructure investment funds, engineering firms, infrastructure consultancies, and airport operators, among others.

In addition to providing an overview of foreign investment opportunities in Chile, InvestChile’s Director presented the new “Public Infrastructure Investment Opportunities Portal”, a digital tool designed to give international investors streamlined access to key project information and documentation for public infrastructure projects that will be tendered between now and March 2026.

Subsequently, Chilean authorities also held meetings with UK-based companies and institutions, including UK Export Finance, a government department which supports the international expansion of British companies by providing financial and insurance solutions.

“We’ve held several meetings with investment funds, construction companies, and consultancies interested in learning more about the Chilean market and the portfolio of projects that we plan to tender through 2029. We are aiming to bring new companies to Chile, which will enable us to develop a large number of projects that will improve the quality of life of Chile people,” said Núñez.

InvestChile Director, Karla Flores, was satisfied with the first day of the event, and noted that “tomorrow, we will continue with a series of meetings with investors and funds in London before heading to Paris. We’re visiting seven European cities as part of our efforts to diversify the origins of foreign investment and showcase opportunities in Chile to companies that can provide better technologies, create jobs, and help Chilean infrastructure to take a leap forward in a sustainable way.”

The UK: Chile’s fifth-largest investor

The United Kingdom is Chile’s fifth-largest foreign investor, with a total foreign direct investment stock of US$16.3 billion. British companies are present in a range of industries including mining, energy, manufacturing, and healthcare services, among others.

InvestChile’s agenda in London will continue on Tuesday morning, with activities including a meeting with the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA), a public agency advising the UK Government on infrastructure delivery and improvement.
