SoftServe, a global consulting and technology development company operating in over 20 countries, has consolidated its Chilean operations with a new office in Chillán. This opening marks a new step toward decentralizing digital talent and creating highly specialized IT jobs outside the Metropolitan Region.
“We chose Ñuble because it combines young talent, active universities and a public-private ecosystem that drives innovation. The opportunities we are creating will enable the region’s residents to participate in projects for large companies in the United States and Canada from Chillán, thereby raising local human capital standards and demonstrating that people do not have to leave the region to have a global impact,” said Jaime Oviedo, SoftServe’s Country Manager for Chile.
Meanwhile, the company will allocate over US$100,000 to this year’s version of its Ñuble Talent Acceleration Program, which will train more than 100 new professionals in fields such as artificial intelligence, software development, testing and cybersecurity. The initiative aims to keep expanding the regional tech base and prepare young people to join projects with a global scope.
Since arriving in Chile in 2022, SoftServe has implemented a continuous training and employability strategy through SoftServe Academy, training more than 600 people. In 2024 alone, over 150 young people completed their training through the company’s talent acceleration program in Ñuble, which it carries out in partnership with Chile’s Economic Development Agency (CORFO) and several universities.
“SoftServe’s official arrival in our region is not an isolated event; it is the concrete result of a deliberate strategy by the regional government. We are creating real opportunities for our young people and showcasing Ñuble’s ability to compete and export talent to the world,” said the Regional Governor of Ñuble, Óscar Crisóstomo.
SoftServe was the only foreign company to receive CORFO’s IFI Fund. This achievement highlights its role in regional development and in creating specialized jobs outside Santiago.
“CORFO and the Ñuble Regional Government supported SoftServe’s setting up operations in our region through the IFI Technological Investment Attraction program, an initiative that encourages high-value private investment in the region, promoting
projects that positively impact the economy and local development,” said CORFO’s Regional Director, Macarena Dávila.
InvestChile Director Karla Flores remarked that the agency began working with SoftServe in 2021, when setting up operations in Chile was just one of the options the company was considering. “So we are delighted to see that this idea is now a reality that is generating investment, quality jobs and technological development in the Ñuble Region.”
“At InvestChile, we firmly believe in the importance of developing Chilean talent as the foundation for growth and enhancing our country’s competitiveness. As an agency, we have sought to look beyond traditional sectors, such as mining and food, to focus on another equally, if not more, valuable resource: people and their skills. The SoftServe Technology Center facility, which will export software development services to global clients in the United States and Europe, is an example of the type of foreign investment we want to attract,” said Flores.
