- Additionally, Mining Undersecretary Suina Chahuán and InvestChile Director Karla Flores led a round table discussion with German mining suppliers in Berlin.
The fourth day of InvestChile Week featured an important agenda in Berlin, Germany, led by Mining Undersecretary Suina Chahuán. Alongside InvestChile Director Karla Flores, she conducted a roundtable discussion with German mining suppliers. They provided a detailed overview of the sector, outlined plans and projections for the portfolio, and discussed opportunities related to projects aiming to extract and add value to critical minerals.
The meeting—also attended by the Chilean Ambassador to Germany, Magdalena Atria; InvestChile Investment Commissioner for Germany, Vanessa Séverin; and InvestChile Head of the Investment Promotion Division, Salvatore Di Giovanni—served as a platform to share the effort the Economy Ministry is focusing on the sector with a specific strategy to diversify the companies operating in Chile’s mining industry. Economy Minister Nicolás Grau participated with a pre-recorded message.
At the event, InvestChile Director Karla Flores signed a cooperation agreement with the Bundesverband mittelständischer Wirtschaft (BVMW), Germany’s largest association of SMEs. Andreas Jahn, a member of BVMW’s Federal Executive Board for Foreign Trade and Policy, also signed the agreement to promote investment-driven economic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Chile and to enhance collaboration between the two institutions.
Flores remarked, “This cooperation agreement will bring us closer to German companies and add a new partner in promoting Chile as an investment destination. The idea is to undertake joint initiatives and connect the interests of the association’s more than 900,000 members with the opportunities and services InvestChile promotes.”
InvestChile Week Europe continues tomorrow in Zurich and Berlin before moving on to Italy, where it will add activities in Milan and Rome.
