  • According to an analysis by InvestChile, the most significant component of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows was reinvested earnings, which reached US$6.0 billion.

The Central Bank of Chile reported foreign direct investment (FDI) figures to July 2025, announcing that during the first seven months of the year, the country received a net inflow of US$9.5 billion. The largest component of this FDI inflow was reinvested earnings, which totaled US$6.0 billion. Equity capital reached US$3.3 billion, while debt instruments accounted for US$137 million.

It is noteworthy that the accumulated figure from January to July represents an increase of 8.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to InvestChile’s analysis, accumulated FDI to July also marked an improvement compared to the previous month. The only component which was lagging was debt instruments, as both equity capital and reinvested earnings accumulated to June were higher than in the same period of 2024.

More reinvestment

In the specific case of reinvested earnings by foreign companies in Chile, Central Bank figures revealed that the total to July exceeded the historical average (US$3.7 billion), and was the highest in the past thirteen years. “It is noteworthy that accumulated FDI to July is very close to the highest figure in the historical series of US$6.2 billion, which was recorded in 2012,” highlighted InvestChile in its analysis, confirming that foreign companies’ interest in investing in Chile remains strong.
