On Tuesday, September 15, the business meeting “Investment Opportunities in Chile” took place in Madrid. It was organized by InvestChile, the Fundación Chile-España (FCE), and the Asociación Española de Normalización (UNE), with the cooperation of the Cámara Oficial Española de Comercio en Chile (CAMACOES).
The event was headed by Louis de Grange, Minister of Public Works and Minister of Transport and Telecommunications; Ximena Rincón, Minister of Energy; and Juan Pablo Candia, Acting Director of InvestChile. Also in attendance were Chile’s Ambassador to Spain, Juan Antonio Coloma; the President of the FCE, Rafael Mateo; and the President of UNE, Alfredo Berges.
The meeting brought together more than 80 attendees from over 50 Spanish companies. Alfredo Berges welcomed the participants, and Rafael Mateo introduced and moderated the presentations.
During a one-hour discussion, the Chilean authorities spoke with the Spanish business community about the new public policies designed to promote investment. They highlighted the business and reinvestment opportunities Chile offers in strategic sectors for its development, with a particular emphasis on energy and infrastructure.
Participants also reviewed the current landscape of Spanish investment in Chile, reaffirming the strong and growing relationship between the two countries.
Company interest was notable, as this was both ministers’ first visit to Madrid under the administration of President José Antonio Kast. This made the meeting especially valuable to attendees, both for companies already established in Chile and for those just beginning to operate in the country.
Following the discussion, more than 10 companies held bilateral meetings with the three authorities, addressing concrete investment and cooperation projects and initiatives in sectors strategic to Chile’s development.
The meeting demonstrated the strong interest of the Spanish business ecosystem in Chile and reinforced the FCE’s role as a bridge between institutions and companies in both countries.
